Professional Associations and Societies:

Project Management Institute (PMI)
Making project management indispensable for business results.
Agile Project Leadership Network (APLN) A 501(c)6 non profit organization that is focused on making people great project leaders by focusing on the following:
    * Value      * Customers
    * Teams      * Individuals
    * Context    * Uncertainty
These ideas are described further in the Declaration of Interdependence, which was written by the founding members of APLN and expresses the values that the group holds with respect to leading projects in today's chaordic world. APLN was founded in 2004 by a group of people who are active in writing about, practicing, and evangelizing the movement towards fast, flexible, customer value driven approaches to leading projects of many types. Although this organization is separate from the Agile Alliance, our intention is to work closely with that group within the software community, but also work with people and companies outside of software and IT to help them become better Project Leaders.
International Organization for Standizaton (ISO)
ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is the world's largest developer of standards. Although ISO's principal activity is the development of technical standards, ISO standards also have important economic and social repercussions. ISO standards make a positive difference, not just to engineers and manufacturers for whom they solve basic problems in production and distribution, but to society as a whole.
Software Engineering Institute (SEI)
For more than 20 years, the SEI has had the national mandate to advance the state of the practice of software engineering and to serve as a national resource in software engineering and technology.
The SEI advances software engineering and related disciplines to ensure the development and operation of systems with predictable and improved cost, schedule, and quality.
American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is a private, non-profit organization (501(c)3) that administers and coordinates the U.S. voluntary standardization and conformity assessment system.

The Institute's mission is to enhance both the global competitiveness of U.S. business and the U.S. quality of life by promoting and facilitating voluntary consensus standards and conformity assessment systems, and safeguarding their integrity.
OASIS
A not-for-profit, global consortium that since 1993 drives the development, convergence and adoption of e-business standards.
American Society for Quality (ASQ)
A society of individual and organizational members dedicated to the ongoing, development, advancement, and promotion of quality concepts, principles, ...
Code of Federal Regulations (CFR)
The CFR is the codification of the general and permanent rules published in the Federal Register by the executive departments and agencies of the Federal Government. It is divided into 50 titles that represent broad areas subject to Federal regulation. Each volume of the CFR is updated once each calendar year and is issued on a quarterly basis
Health Level 7
Health Level Seven is one of several ANSI accredited Standards Developing Organizations (SDOs) operating in the healthcare arena. Most SDOs produce standards (sometimes called specifications or protocols) for a particular healthcare domain such as pharmacy, medical devices, imaging or insurance (claims processing) transactions. Health Level Seven’s domain is clinical and administrative data.
